Constructional Details of "ELMECH" make Electric Hoist

 

MONORAIL ELECTRIC HOISTS / FLAMEPROOF HOISTS:

Motors: III phase squirrel cage. Motor used in ‘ELMECH’ hoist is conical type. It has class ‘B/F’ insulation specially designed for cranes and hoists duty with starting and stalling Torque of approximately 220% and 290% respectively. The motors are of totally enclosed type and its class ‘B/F’ insulation have decidedly better advantage over class ‘A’ or ‘B’ type insulation.

Brake: in the hoist an automatic break is provided which applies instantaneously when the current supply is “switched off” either accidentally or intentionally. The motors of conical type axial movement of the rotor which is used to actual the brake. When the motor is started the rotor is pulled axially into the magnetic centre of the stator field and the conical brake on the rotor shaft is released. If the motor is disconnected or the power supply fails, the brake is applied. This safe and simple braking principal has proved to be very reliable all over the world and needs title maintenance. The brake torque is 100% above the motor torque at any rated load. Brake wear is easily corrected by adjusting the brake and cover location.

Gear Box: The gear box is grease filled sealed unit comprising of a graded close grained CI -housing, housing the precision cut spur gears made of high grade steel. The accurately -machined shafts are supported on needle roller bearings. This ensures high efficiency and -excellent performance.

Rope Drum: The rope drum is rolled, welded and precision machined. It is driven through internal gear rim and supported on roller bearing. Machined rope grooved and ample drum diameter ensures capacity to accommodate entire length of wire rope in single layer and best possible working conditions.

Rope guide and tighter: The rope guide which encircles the drum like a nut over a bolt fits on to the rope drum grooved rigidly. The rope tighter is made of steel which presses wire rope against the groove. Rope is thus wound tightly against the bottom of groove and possibility of overlapped ropes on the drum is totally eliminated.

WIRE ROPE: The wire rope is 6 X 37 constructions with hemp core. It is of reputed make from best quality plough steel. Diameter is so selected to maintain a factor of 5 minimum.

MAIN HOISTING: all parts of the hoist unit are enclosed in main housing thus forming integral unit. The main housing is all welded steel construction fitted with mounting brackets.

LIMIT SWITCH: limit switch with adjustable tappets is provided which cuts off the current supply at the highest and lowest position of the hook, thereby automatically bringing the brake into action. Limit switch is equipped with heavy duty contacts for foolproof operation.

CONTROL: The hoist is controlled by magnetic contractors and low voltage push buttons. The control voltage is stepped down to 110 volts by means of step down transformer. The standard length of 3 meters of pendant cable is supplied with hoist. If required, additional length can be supplied at an extra price indicated in offer.

MICRO SPEED: ( IF OEDERED AT EXTRA PRICE ) Hoist units can be quipped with separate micro speed motor reducing lifting speed to 1/10 of normal lifting speed independent of the load.

TESTING: ELMECECH electric hoist is carefully inspected and tested with proof load of 125% of the safe working load on single fall before dispatch.

Rugged construction conforming to is 3938 (FROM CLASS I DO CLASS IV DUTY)

Totally enclosed class “F” insulated, 1hr (40% CDF), rated conical rotor, sq. cage, crane duty motor to work on 440volts, III phase, 50Hz, A.C. supply.

Built in conical disk brake for hoist and cross travel – completely mechanical – There are no magnetic coils therefore no changes of coil burning. No downtime and no need to keep stock of brake coils.

Conical construction of brake disk facilities very simple adjustment of brake which can be done from outside without removing any hoist part, hence the adjustment is fast. For all other type of hoist, brake adjustment has to be done dismantling brake cover and using filler gauges, resulting in heavy downtime.

Alloy steel gears are machined by hobbling and are hardened and tampered. Bearing seating is ground finished.

Modular construction and assembly facilities easy maintenance.

All hardware is zinc coated to avoid resting service.

Limit switches to present accidental over hoisting and over lowering are standard features.

Provision for easy readjustment of limits for hoisting and limiting distances as and when required.

Rope guide and rope tighter to keep the rope in proper position on rope drum.

All shafts mounted on antifriction bearing.

Micro speed attachment to get 1/10th or 1/7th of main hoisting speed-on request at extra price.

ELMECH Brake Motors : A simple principle

The Principle: The design concept of the combinations of electric motor and break has been solved by the brake motor with the tepered sliding rotor. This drive until was patenedin 1924 as a crane drive :Where the brake is rigidy joined to the tapered sliding rotor". Since then this type of drive until has proved itself to be very reliable.

The sliding rotor brake motor known as the ELMECH brake motor, has a tapered rotor and slator pack. This creates a verticle and horizontal magnetic fleld.

The former creates the torque as in every other electric motor and the latter brings about an axial force which when switched on moves the rotor with the firmly attached brake disc axially against the brake spring. This releases the brake. (refer Brake operation arrangment diagram on reverse.)

When the motor is swithed off the magnetic field disappears and consequently the axial force and the brake spring presses the rotor with the brake disc against the breaking surface.

Advantage:-

  • Simple and robust breaking system.
  • No additional switching components such as contactors, rectifier and solenold coil required for the brake.
  • Simultaneus operation between motor starting and brake release and also between switching the motor off and application of brake.
  • A large number of starts per hour, because starting against a delayed brake release is impossible and the motor is not additionally heated bya brake coil.
  • High breaking torques are possible due to the conical brake design.
  • Long life of the brake lining due to an efficient heat dessipation from the breaking surface and the flexible mounting of the lining on the disc.
  • Simple replacement of brake lining.
  • Drive unit suitable for the conversion to microspeed unit simply by using the brake as an automatic clutch.
  • Brake disc incorparates an integral fan system. thus shorter length.
  • No additional connections for the breaking system : the normal motor connection suffices.
